Story of a Company

Sandersons Removals and Storage was formed by John Sanderson.
During the Second World War John served in Bomber command undertaking nightly bombing raids over Germany. After demobilisation in 1946 John bought a second hand five-ton flat bed vehicle undertaking haulage around the area. A couple of years later John bought a tipper for delivering aggregates in the local area. In 1955 Johns brother joined the company for a few years and the fleet increased.

In 1966 the first removal van was purchased with a lift off body. This enabled john to still undertake Haulage when Removals went quiet he could lift off the body. Johns son-in law Graham then joined the company, and the removal side of the company was expanded. The Sanderson Brother partnership was dissolved and John retained the Removal Company.

John decided he needed to branch out into container warehousing and purchased a sixty-container building. Unfortunately Graham was taken seriously ill and later died. Johns Daughter Kathy then joined the company to assist with the day to day running. The company had grown to such a size that a 300-container warehouse was required. This was purchased at Thorpe Arch. By 1991 John decided that the Furniture Storage and Archive Store was growing so much he needed further space and moved to a 600-container warehouse at Marston Moor.

With the increase in Archive storage John was running out of space very quickly. Another relocation was decided on and Sandersons moved 500 yards up the road to a 1000 container warehouse where they are today.

Sandersons Removals and Storage have built up a name for service and quality. Many clients return time after time for the personal touch.

In 2006 Kathy retired. John didn't feel it was time to retire and is still at the helm of Sandersons Removals and Storage.
