We have compiled these notes to answer some of the questions we are frequently asked and to help you on the day we move house for you. By following these notes you will also be helping us on the day of your move.
Video, hi-fi and computer equipment should
ideally be packed into its original boxes
using the packing supplied by the
manufacturer.
If you no longer have the original boxes we can
supply suitable cartons. All such equipment
should be fully disconnected into individual
units before the move, as we take no
responsibility for any damage or problems that
may arise later should our porters have had to
disconnect such equipment.
Chests of drawers containing clothes and other light possessions can generally be moved full . Our porters will advise you if they feel they cannot move a full chest of drawers due to exceptionally heavy weight, or difficult access requires additional handling . Glass and china items should be left in cupboards for our packer to wrap the goods before placing in cartons if you have chosen to have us provide a packing service.
You should separately pack all foodstuffs into suitably marked cartons . We cannot take any foodstuffs into store. The contents of a freezer should be packed into a small number of large heavy-gauge polythene bags and returned to the freezer before the move. Our porters will then remove the bags whilst the freezer is lifted into the pantechnicon, replacing them in the freezer during the move. Food will remain frozen for several hours if so packed. If the move involves an overnight journey, where possible we endeavour to connect your freezer to a supply, whilst it is still in the pantechnicon, so that the contents remain frozen.
