We have compiled these notes to answer some of the questions we are frequently asked and to help you on the day we move house for you. By following these notes you will also be helping us on the day of your move.
Please make sure that all appliances, such as washing machines and dishwashers etc, are disconnected prior to uplifting by our porters. You should secure the drum of an automatic washing machine with the makers brackets or packing pieces to avoid damage to the machine during the move. If the fridge or freezers are to be taken into store, please ensure that all inside surfaces are washed down with a strong solution of bicarbonate of soda followed by drying thoroughly to avoid unpleasant odours. Our porters are forbidden to disconnect domestic appliances, especially where the water supply hoses are connected to supplies not fitted with isolating valves.
If you are taking the curtains, blinds and any other items fixed to the walls with you when you move, please ensure that these are all taken down before the day and suitably packed, Please place mirrors and pictures against a wall so that the furniture can be loaded first.
You should place any clothing already on hangers directly onto one of our mobile garment rails which are then fitted with a rainproof cover before being loaded into the pantechnicon. If your belongings are to be taken into store, we can provide special wardrobe cartons fitted with a hanging rail for you to load your clothes into.
